Imperia is born officially in 1923 from the unification of common of Oneglia and Porto the Maurizio, comprising also the fractions of Castelvecchio di Santa Maria Maggiore, borgo d’ Oneglia and Caramagna Ligure and enclosing the common of Costa d'Oneglia, Borgo S.Agata, Piani, Poggi, Torrazza, Moltedo and Montegrazie.

The debated unification of two towns was possible for a law of 1922 which the government assumed full powers in the organization of Public Administration. In this period the unification was not wished from all, considered the secular rivalry between the " CIANTAFURCHE ", and the " CACELOTTI ".The historical vicissitudes were various and provoked the construction of two ports, two railroads, two dialects, therefore the two towns do not constitute a homogenous organism. Porto Maurizio, defended on the hill "Parasio", conserve the particular characteristic of medieval center and comes down to the sea through narrows streets.

Dolcedo is one of fascinating villages in the valley formed from the  torrent "Prino" with the characteristics houses along the banks of the torrent and the particular Bridge "Frande", constructed in the 1292, from the Knights of Malta. The village, dipped in the olive trees,  is divided in two zones, one around to the parochial church of Saint Tommaso, the other along the torrent Prino crossed from five bridges. 

From the church of Saint Tommaso it leave the path that go to the sanctuary of the "Acquasanta of Lecchiore", meeting ancient villages abandoned between olive trees and vineyards.

- Foto: Molini di Prelà -Prelà is the most important village of the high valley of "Prino". The ancient castle dominate, in strategic position, all the territory. Molini di Prelà is placed in the deep of valley. There are numerous flour mills near the torrent and the oil-press work the precious olives, main product of all the valley. In the center of the village, the church of Saint Giovanni Battista (said "del Groppo").

In a panoramic point on the valley , the sanctuary of Montegrazie, constructed in the 1450, that is famous for the frescoes of Carlo Braccesco.
